After divorce I found myself in a very strange place. The kids and I were living in a heavily populated orthodox area where I no longer fit in. Money was scarce as I totally let go of our business and I had this big mortgage to pay for. The balancing act between building my dwindling faith would lead me to despair, desolation, teetering on wreckless abandon. The kids had to switch from yeshiva to a HUGE public school. I knew in my heart that god was somewhere and that I was better off without my spouse of 21 years. God showed up inside me as new people walked me through my stuff, little by little I restored my faith which I am still uncomfortable with the ultimate accomplishment. For I am too edgy, I thought, to become a Holistic Rabbi. I tell you this, my client, to show that I have felt your pain, indeed I have. My prayer for you is that you are able to balance your likes and dislikes on your post divorce journey and know that you are loved by me. And know that a spiritual divorce is yours if you let it be! It was Mother’s Day 2008 (2 yrs. post divorce) and I asked my kids to build me a Facebook & Myspace because I knew that my ego was driving my spirit to do that which you now know to be my purpose. My life before divorce was is pursuit of a spiritual path. I had been raised “reform”, raised my kids “orthodox” and holistic healing or yoga was a part of my life. After divorce, I let go of everything and it became clear to use my gifts on myself first and then those who would appreciate it! Many of you will not understand how I do what I do because you are looking for something or avoiding something. If you choose to work with me, I will show you how to build your spiritual legacy. As I step into my Rabbi shoes, my heart is at peace over the irony that the toxic thorn in the side of my former marriage would drive me SO FAR away from my core SELF. I had sat in synagogue for over a dozen years in (perhaps unconsicous) prayer, like the majority of organized religion. Enabling his behavior was my sickness and prayer/yoga/holistic healing was my “drug of choice”. After seeking and scrounging and learning enough energy healing tools to fix the wounds of my body, which is still in process ~ holistic divorce ~ jewish divorce recovery ~ spiritual divorce ~ are the tools I will be blogging about on my new site (which will be linked up with this site). Do you know anyone who is running over to India and/or the east seeking spirituality because they think that god abandoned them? Are you currently shifting in your chair because you relate? Divorce kicked the SEAT for what I thought was my true CONSCIOUSNESS as an orthodox jew and I felt abandoned, betrayed and bitter enough to turn to other forms of worship only to find that the path to peace, the path to consciousness, the path to god was to embrace the core of mySELF, simply! How far would I go is the “juice” inside my story. I am a jew, yes. I am human, yes, I am a Holistic Rabbi, yes YES yes! Shaped by my parents, their parents and generations before. THREE MINUTES A DAY, that is all I suggest. You are a beginner, your heart is confused, you are in pain, fear and worry. You’ve tried reading books, tried a yoga class, tried listening to soft music, tried walking on the beach, try try try try try… Step One: Learn to breathe the 7 second peaceful heart breath and know that there are no quick fixes here, no magic pill, no hocus pocus. Just yourSELF, sit with yourSELF and the meditation will begin to peel away at the illusions that cover your beautiful and perfect peaceful heart.
